I've started this blog selfishly, to gain validation from fellow lovers of house plants, but I do hope you gain mutual satisfaction from these tips and tricks, pretty pictures, and probably some absolute fails when it comes to all things house plants...

Hello there, I'm Beth!
I'm the author of Fiddle & Fern, and a self-admitting house plant addict. I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself, and explain why I'm here: I work retail, study communications, and live happily with my sweet husband Scotty in Adelaide, South Australia. Although a new plant addict, I'm still one in the same, and absolutely love filling our house with all things green and alive (okay, maybe not all things - frogs aren't welcome. Or lizards. Just plants, really.)
Surprisingly, I used to hate plants, especially when given as gifts. The idea that someone would spend THEIR money on something that they expected ME to keep alive was beyond me. However, when my neglected Peace Lilly (ironically, given as a gift) began thriving in the corner of my living room, I started to grow a new fondness for the green things. Impressed with my incredible green thumb (whilst doing absolutely nothing), I realised that it wasn't actually all that difficult to look after these things. After a few Pinterest searches, Instagram stalks, and YouTube deep dives, I was sold, and even more than that, something was burning inside of me to fill my entire house with plants. I really can't explain it, I got hooked!
So, I jumped into the car with a Bunnings voucher in hand, and brought home 'Monty' the Monstera and 'Fiddle' the Fiddle Leaf Fig home to our little family (I hope I get more creative when naming my future children).

From there I've spiralled, and now I just can't get enough.
If I'm being frank, I've started this blog selfishly, to gain validation from fellow lovers of house plants, but I do hope you gain mutual satisfaction from these tips and tricks, pretty pictures, and probably some absolute fails when it comes to all things house plants!
Enjoy.
